I am hoping that you can send this prayer request out for me. My father, David Burkhalter, had an accident yesterday and broke his right leg in five places. He will be in the hospital until Friday and has surgery scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. He was putting our family horses down when one of them fell on his leg. This has been very difficult for my family dealing with the loss of the horses and having my father in the hospital. Please pray for the doctors that are preforming his surgery and that David may have a speedy recovery. He is expected to be out for about 12 weeks. Also, please pray for my family as they mourn the loss of two very special horses that we've had for almost twenty years. Thank you very much!

They are both x-students of mine...Chad Baker was in a very serious motor cycle accident and is hospitalized with broken ribs etc. They had to remove his spleen as a result. The second one just happened a young man named Caleb Austin (a young marine just returned from Afganistan) was killed in an automobile accident. His young wife is in critical condition. His death is going to hit a lot of very vulnerable friends and the Long Lake community as a whole. Please get this out to the prayer teams..

"I wanted to give an update on my surgery. I ended up coming home a day earilier than expected...which was a good thing. The whole hospital stay was very traumatic for me, and I soooo happy to be home. I am doing as well as expected...I do have to use a walker for a little bit then transfer to a cane..the pain in my legs are gone...just have the surgery site pain!!! poor Bill is attending to my every need...and if Bill can't my boys do. I am so thankful for them!!!

Praying for those affected by flooding and landslides

Hi church family & friends,

This morning during the worship service, we prayed for the disaster relief teams that are helping people across the USA and around the world who have been affected by recent tornadoes, flooding, and other weather-related issues. I would like to remind us all to pray also for those who live in the North Country that have been affected by flooding and landslides recently and currently.

Pray for God to show His mercy and grace by sending favorable weather
Pray for people who are affected by flooding and landslides to be safe and to make wise decisions on dealing with weather-related issues
Pray that there will be no loss or minimal loss to families' properties
Pray that God will work in this time to draw people to faith in Jesus
Pray that Christians will pray, show compassion, and help others during this time

Dan Fenton called asking for prayer for one family in particular that is battling the landslides in Keene Valley. Pray for the Marlatt family, that they will have no loss or minimal loss to their property. Pray that God will show Himself to be the Savior, Lord, and Protector that He is.

Here's the message from Nanette, with details of her surgery and how to pray for her and her family:

"God has been so good to us and things have just fallen into place very easily as I prepare for my upcoming surgery. Things that I thought would be the hardest and most stressful to set in place, turned out to be the opposite! God is soooo awesome!!!

The details of my surgery are; Monday, May 16 at Upstate University Hospital @ 7am. I am having spinal fusion surgery in 2 places in my spine, and my surgeon says it will take about 5hrs! I will be in the hosptial about 5 days following the surgery. I asked Bill to come back home the day after my surgery, so the boys don't miss too much school. They will both be at my son Adam's house in Malone.

I am nervous, but also ready to get this done and over with. This has been a year of pain and after my healing time, praying the pain will end and I can get back to being me! I am asking for prayers for a successful surgery with no complications, and to calm my fears and anxiety.

"Below is a note from a friend of mine who just gave birth at 28 weeks to quadruplets. It looks as though one of them is not going to make it and I would love to see a miracle. Please pray for this family and these innocent lives. I am also asking for prayer for my friend Teresa Andreano. She is unable to work due to health issues. Her pancreas is not working at full capacity and after 2 kidney transplants and getting staff infection twice she now has an infection in her foot that if it does not heal they will need to amputate. She is such a special lady and I hate to see her suffer like this. My mom is also in a lot of pain with rhuemetoid arthritis. She just turned 71 and is stiff and in pain continually now. Thank you and below, again, is the note from the parents of the quadruplets.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and kind words! Its been an emotional few days with more to come. Our 3 biggest babies, Arabella, Gabriel and Albert are in the NICU doing very well, of course we are months away from discharge but they have had a great start to life. Our little angel Grace Elizabeth has been in our arms from the moment she was born, she has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and stopped growing in utero, she is to smal for surgery and we have opted for comfort care for her with the support of her doctors and our loving families. We have no idea how much time we wll have with her, its already been 24+ hrs which is more than we had ever hoped for. She is the most amazing little person I have ever met and I am truly blessed to have her for whatever amount of time she has. Praise God for watching over Scott Benty today. After feeling quite weak this morning, Scott's newly implanted heart-device gave him a "kick-start" to get his heart going strong and in proper rhythm again (Scott said it felt like he got punched in the chest). He and Linda headed to the ER where he was checked out by the doctors there. They examined him, kept him for a few hours, then sent him home with a good report. Pray for him as rests up and regains full strength. I talked with him this afternoon and he sounded great!

Thanks to everyone who prayed for Scott, and for those who called or came by the hospital.

"I wanted to update you on Livi. We had her post surgery check up this past week. The surgery was a success. The surgeon is happy with that. He says they have done all they can do now medically for Livi. Unfortunately, her only kidney is not progressing as it should. It is not growing as fast as it should, has swelling, and cysts. At this rate, she will need a transplant by her 20's or early 30's. Can you pray for us? We are struggling with this. I know God is in control and has great plans for Olivia. I am finding comfort in that. I just have to keep reminding myself that this is God's plan. Can you pray for comfort, guidance, and strength for Adam and I? We want to be strong parents for Livi. We are just struggling with knowing that she will continue to have medical issues. You always want the best for your kids and to be able to take any ounce of their burden from them. The beautiful thing is that we are closer to God and as a family as a whole."

"Just wanted to ask for a quick prayer request for my aunt and uncle who were in the terrible accident on Sunday where the PSU student died. He slid into their oncoming car. My uncle is fine physically but very shaken. He keeps replaying the accident over and over again in his head saying he should have done this or that differently. My aunt ended up with a broken foot and sternum which in turn bruised her heart. She is out of the hospital now but in A LOT of pain.

My Dad who for the last fifteen years suffered from Alzheimers Disease passed away yesterday at 1:30 chicago time with all of us siblings (Brad, Todd, Shawn, Susan) and wonderful wife Charlene of 54 years at his side. Dad (Bill Holes) was 84 years old. It was all very sad. I loved my dad dearly as I am sure you can imagine. We are doing fine. The wake will be next friday the 4th of March and the funeral Saturday the 5th of March in St. Cloud Minnesota. Nanette sent a message this morning requesting prayer for her mother, Gen. Her mother is experiencing chronic mini-strokes right now (about one per day). She has had 2 major strokes in the past, so of course Nanette and their family are concerned. The doctors are doing all they can to help her right now, but she is diabetic so that complicates what medications she can take, etc. Nanette's youngest sister is taking care of their mother full-time right now.

Please pray for these specific requests:

* For the doctor to know how to best help her, and/or to locate another doctor with more expertise to help provide care

* For Nanette's mother's health to improve

* For Nanette's mother and sister to be strengthened each day

* For people to be drawn to Christ in the midst of this health challenge

Luella has been having chest pains recently. So on Friday, February 18, she will be having a heart catheterization. He is the 16 month old son of our friends and neighbors, Chad and Marla. Today they are on their way to Boston Children’s Hospital. Tomorrow tests. Friday heart catherization. Luke is suffering from rare condition called Congenital Mitral Stenosis. Defective heart valve. Doctors are going to try to balloon the valve. Later on he’ll need open heart surgery to replace the valve. This will be ongoing as the heart grows.

He’s a sweet little boy who doesn’t know yet what feeling good feels like. Please keep all in your prayers.

Email from Rachel to Dulcie:

So mom has a very advanced form of pneumonia. It is multi-lobular, and has her lungs filled with alot of fluid which is affecting her O2 intake. She has been in ICU since Tues. After seeing her tonight, I am getting worried, only because she struggles for O2. Although her white count went down from 80,000 to 36,000, it went back up to 39,000. Her chest xray has shown no improvement, and she is really struggling to breath. It is very hard for her to talk. Her O2 level, even with O2 isnt very good. Especially when she tries to talk. She is atleast comforted pain wise, and able to sleep. her back and left shoulder were giving her alot of problems in bed. I will check her xray report tomorrow, hopefully there will be some improvement, they started a new antibiotic drip last night. Dr. Leatherwood came and looked at her leg, which looks pretty good right now, and is dealing with that. ICU is taking very good care of her. After this ordeal is over, we need to get her back pain under control. I will keep you posted daily.

Will you please ask the church to pray for Barbara Jean (Eaton) Hecht? She gave birth to a healthy baby daughter in Nov and now has many health concerns in her family including a sister, Anna, who is having brain surgery Monday for a tumor which is probably malignant. In the middle of this, Barbara's husband is very ill, her other sister is recovering from an accident in which many bones were broken, and her brother is laid up with a bad back. She's feeling like no one is able to be there for Anna during this difficult time. Please pray for this precious family.

"Luke has to go to Boston Childrens Hospital in the next few days for heart surgery. He has been diagnosed with Congenital Mitral Stenosis. It is very rare and very severe. There is a team of Doctors reviewing his case now and trying to decide the right course of action. I wouldn't normally post this except we as a family and especially Luke need all the prayers we can get. Thank You!"

"I am glad to be home, but my heart is in Nicaragua,

It's almost impossible to put into words what our mission trip meant to so many people; to our whole team, and to the people that were, and will be served in the future, by our concerted efforts and finances.

I cannot say much about the Rosita mission, except to say that El Senor changed things up for some of your team. Lynn was challenged with cooking not hiking, Erika with preaching and translating and all the others had their individual challenges of hard work and uncertainty. The individual testimonies that we heard are declarations of what God did in the midst of your team.

I know He opened your eyes to the possibilities of future service in that part of Nicaragua, and I know there are people praying for this future activity in Rosita and beyond. As soon as you get a clear vision as to what you are going to do, let me know, so I can share it with people down here who would like to be part of that vision.

The Masaya project was so multifaceted, just like a diamond with so many brilliant and divine cuts, radiating the glory of our Father. I witnessed a group of missionaries coming together for the cause of Christ's kingdom there in Masaya.

Alice stepped up to be the leader of a group of ladies and men, who had never been involved in a "Banner Ministry." She took control and guided this group of people to believe in themselves and what God was about to do through them. She was, that dry kindling that God set on fire, and in so doing, set the rest of the wood on fire. I saw God light this kindling on the first day of work, and then the Holy Spirit fanned the flames with His breath. Even Paola, the pastor's wife, was there giving input to Alice and the team. Paola loves a lot of bright colors, and that is exactly what she got. That was it, from then on, the fire became all consuming passion for each person to work together, to make these banners. The beginning goal was to complete just two banners. But who can stop this raging passion once the Holy Spirit blows on it?

By the time Alice had to leave, her team had completed four banners. That wasn't enough. There was still time and people left. Alice's passion took hold in the hearts of Courtney and Jackie and they guided the team to make two more magnificent banners.

On the day the crusade was to move inside the tabernacle, Courtney and Jackie were casually working with Lucia, and the rest of the team to get as much done on the last two banners. They weren't really expecting to get them done, until pastor Isael made a request that changed the relaxed mood. About 4 p.m., after working with the Medical Clinic team, I visited the banner ladies to see if everything was well in hand. It is just then that pastor Isael sends word that he wants to present them, that night, at the beginning of the service. Now everything is in high gear.

Courtney tells me that Lucia is trying to finish the sewing of the last two banners. It was going to be close. Could we get them done and ready to be presented to the whole congregation??? We all looked at each other and said YES! Going 90 miles an hour, Lucia worked with her old fashioned foot operated sewing machine to get the last sewing done. We threaded the finished banners onto their masts and cross rigging. I asked the question, "who are going to be the ones to be the "banner bearers"? Four of the banner makers, Courtney and Jackie volunteered to be the ones.

It was now 5:30 p.m. and services were to start around 6 p.m. We were all working on adrenaline. We didn't have time to eat dinner, we just kept on working. About 5:45, Lucia gets done with the last banner. We quickly mount it and bring into the tabernacle with the others banners. Based on what I've seen done with the banner ministry, at my old church, Burnt Hickory Baptist, I led the volunteers through a practice session. We found out very quickly it wasn't going to be easy. The banners weighed a lot and presented handling issues. Finally some one brought us some old shoulder flag straps with a little leather holster to place the end of the pole into. By this time people were starting to meander into the church and find their seats. Please get this picture of six ladies, never, ever doing this before, and now being thrust into the front of the church. They were nervous and during the practice we bumped into several people.

We were ready??? Stationed by one of the entrances we all waited. The music and praise worship began to play, after the praise and worship, pastor Iseal comes to the pulpit and welcomes everyone. He then begins to tell the congregation about this team of women who came to give of their time and effort to teach a group of their own women how to make these magnificent banners. These women would be the first women ever to make and present banners for their church.

Pastor Isael gave the cue and the the band started to play, "Onward Christian Soldiers." Our oldest and most over-worked banner maker, Lucia, led the procession with the first flag. One by one the flags were marched down the isle and presented to God and his people. You should have seen the looks of awe and amazement in the eyes of the congregation as they witnessed the presentation of these banners and saw the proclamations about our God, so boldly stated by the symbols and letters sewn into the fabric. These banners flew for the remainder of the crusade for everyone to see. I was overwhelmed to see these banners flying high on the last day of the crusade, as over 3,000 people raised a tumultuous praise to our God and King that memorable day.

Alice's sweet, but determined spirit really touched the lives of the sisters who she worked with. On the day she was to leave, these ladies had a little going away fiesta for her. It was so neat to see her in a cicle of sisters gathered together to tell her what she meant to them. There wasn't a dry eye, including mine, during this farewell get together. A day or two after Alice left, Jim told us that Alice was going to buy two electric sewing machines for next year.

So you might ask, what did Courtney and Jackie do when Alice was gone? Here's what God did in their hearts. Never once did they rest on what they did for the banner ministry. That evening after services they were already asking me what they could do. They felt that sewing was done and wanted to do something else. They wanted to know if they could teach an English class. With pastor Isael's blessing they made their plans to teach a group of teenagers the idiom of English.

That next morning, as we left to go to the Medical Clinic, Courtney and Jackie stayed behind to begin their English class. I didn't know what to expect to hear when we got back for lunch. I was trying to figure out how they were going to do it and make it work. Never fear when God is near! By lunch time they had already had a great time teaching the kids with all kinds of games. They even had them doing tongue twisters. On the last day Courtney and Jackie wanted to, and finished up by working at the Medical Clinic as the Picassos of Paint."

"Just wanted to gave you all a update. We Daniel Lito, Mandy, and myself made it home last night Jan 20th. We cannot thank you all for your support in our work with the people of Rosita and Masaya, Nicaragua. The basketball court to finish it in the one week was God helping each of us to be able to get rest and to get His work done. He knew in advance that you all would do it all and I do give Him the praise for the work being done.

"The Revival was a big success also. We had a total of 6 people to make professions of faith and 4 to come back to the church also. We have some that are talking to Pastor Josephine but have not come forward yet. Also I pray that Pastor Marc, Tim, Matthew, and Lynn are doing well after their hike into El Gallo.

"The young people from Masaya (who went with us to Rosita) did a great job also and were so excited to go one there first mission trip also. So once again I do thank you all for everything.

"I was contacted by a friend Jody Agee. She is one of the EMT’s at the Ambulance Squad. Her cousin Erik Whitmarsh has just finished chemotherapy and needs a liver transplant. They can’t put him on the list because of the chemo and he is fighting for his life. He is in Syracuse. The family asks for prayers that the Dr’s will have wisdom, that he will be healed.

I told Jody I would ask this to be put on the prayer chain.

Pray for Catherine Burke

Catherine had heart bypass on Monday, January 10 at Albany Medical Center. She is recovering in the hospital, and is scheduled to go home in about one week if her recovery continues to go well. Pray for her during this time of recovery, and pray for the Lord to show Himself as The-Lord-Who-Heals.

Pray also for her husband Bill, their son Tom and their daughter Cathy, and all of their family during this time as they help minister to Catherine. Pray that Catherine's faith in Jesus and their faith in Jesus will be an inspiration to others.

Rosita Team traveling

On Monday, 4 of the 5 members of the Rosita team (Marc, Tim, Matthew & Lynn) went with missionary Dan Titus, his son, and local leaders to a remote village (2 hr hike) where another mission team will be building a church building this spring. For our team, it was a chance to see what it will be like should we pursue that open door for mission trips to Nicaragua in the future.

The other member of the Rosita team (Derek) began his journey home on Monday. He flew in a small plane from Rosita (the runway is literally a cow pasture!) to Managua, then traveled with Pastor Isael back to Masaya to see our team there, encourage one another, and to see the work that has been done. The Masaya team has gotten much done! Huge, beautiful banners for the church sanctuary have been made. And the medical clinic is really coming together. Praise the Lord.

We went for a quick shopping trip at the market with some folks from Masaya, who ensured that we got a fair deal on prices. After that, we had dinner, then attended the worship service at the church in Masaya, where many people made professions of faith in Jesus as Savior & Lord. Our friend Freddy was the translator for the evangelist and it was good to see him.

At about 11:00 PM, Derek was dropped off at the airport. He flew the red-eye from Managua to Ft. Lauderdale to Boston, then from Boston to Saranac Lake. He arrived home safely Tuesday afternoon.

The rest of the Rosita team continued working to complete the sports court on Tuesday. Our prayer is that the sports court will draw children, teens and families to Christ, and will provide a place for wholesome, positive activities to take place so that the young people of Rosita can avoid the temptations of the world.

On Wednesday, the Rosita team will once again take the long bus ride, this time from Rosita to Managua, where they will rendezvous with the Masaya team. Pray for their safety as they travel on the bus.

We apologize for the delay in posting an update from the Masaya team, we had some difficulties using the different Spanish keyboards and got accidentally locked out of the blog until today. But all is well with our group. The Crusade has begun here at the church in Masaya and missionaries from all over Central and North America have arrived. We have been worshiping in the mornings and the evenings and have been encouraged by the passionate worship of the Nicaraguan people. The team working on the praise banners was able to complete all six in time for the first night of the Crusade. The women of the church were so excited! The women learned much from the project and we were blessed by the fellowship. The team working on the medical clinic has made great progress. The roof is finished (Praise God) and the majority of the dry wall has been hung. Saturday we sanded the plaster walls and swept and washed the floors and doors. Today the team is working on sanding the drywall and will begin painting. Bob cut his hand pretty badly last week but praise the Lord, the doctor says his stiches look good and healing has begun. Ryan preached yesterday during the large Sunday morning service and God moved POWERFULLY! Eddie prayed over Ryan before the service that all the kernels of wisdom God had for the people of Nicaragua would be received and that Gods message would not be lost in translation, and prayers were answered. You could tell by watching and listening to the people in the audience that they understood the message and were moved.

Jackie and I (Courtney) will be working with a small group of younger women today to teach them English (at their request) and tomorrow a few of us will begin door to door Evangelism. Please continue to pray that God will renew our strength, and keep our eyes and hearts open so that we may be flexible to do whatever is needed in service.

Answering a Prayer That Started More Than Five Years Ago

The Mision Bautista in Rosita, Nicaragua began praying for than five years ago that God would send the funds and laborers for the sports court that we are building with them this week. What an awesome privilege to be part of his work here. They are getting so excited to use it for outreach and evangelism.

We worked really hard yesterday, and the Lord helped us accomplish much. On the first day of construction we had completed one section of the court, and on the next day we completed two more sections. Yesterday alone we completed three sections. More than 9 hours of mixing and carrying buckets of concrete by hand. Our team is doing a great job! The Lord is our strength.

The revival went very well on Friday and Saturday. Our team members are preaching, giving testimonies, and tonight we are singing a special music song together.

Four people were saved yesterday when the team of young adults from Masaya who came with us to Rosita went out on the streets sharing the gospel. Praise God.

The two hour church service was great this morning. A small group of believers who love the Lord. The National Missionary for Nicaragua shared a message on the Fear of the Lord. It was translated into English for us, and it was great.

Today is Sunday so we will rest the afternoon, attend church tonight, and go to pray with a sick woman from their church who has requested prayer.

Tomorrow (Monday) Derek will fly back to Managua on a very small plane, then go to visit the Masaya Team before he has to leave Nicaragua, returning to NY on Tuesday.

The rest of the Rosita Team will be traveling to a small village to encourage the believers there and to proclaim the gospel and to plan for future trips the Lord may have in store for us.

One of the reasons we are so grateful that the Lord has called us to Rosita is that not many mission teams come here. It is so difficult and time consuming to get here, and the villages in this region are small. But there are people here who need to be saved, and churches that LOVE the encouragement that our visit provides. Praise God.

Rosita Team update

We are happy to report that today´s work in Rosita went very well. It was hot, the work was hard, but everyone worked together (Nicaraguans and Americans) to get much work done for the kingdom. We completed two more sections of the sports court. We are one third of the way completed with it, and Lord willing it will be completed before our team leaves Rosita.

The church in Rosita is working alongside us, leading us in many ways, showing us how to mix concrete by hand. Tim, Matthew, Marc and Derek are getting pretty good at carrying 5 gallon buckets of concrete, among other jobs. Lynn has joined in with the other ladies, learning the Nicaragua culture and especially how to cook for large groups, Nicaraguan style.

Last night we had the privilege of going to a local hospital to pray with an area pastor who is battling illness. Pray for him to be healed.

The basketball goals are already put together, and were in storage in a community a few hours away. The missionaries talked to a local bus company, who is putting the goals on top of one of their buses and delivering them by tomorrow. The church is excited that the sports court will be used for outreach events very soon!

The Revival at the Rosita Mision Bautista begins tonight. Pastor Marc from Emmanuel Baptist Church in Potsdam, NY is preaching, and a few team members are sharing their testimonies. Be praying for God to do a great work. It begins in about an hour.

Quick update from Derek and the Rosita team:

We safely completed the 17-hour bus ride from Managua to Rosita. Only 140 miles. It was verrrrry long. The roads were incredibly rough, bumpy like you´ve never seen. Part of it was daylight and the scenery is beautiful. We had to stop twice to unload the bus because the bus load was too heavy to make it up some hills. We walked to the top of the hills then jumped back on the bus. The bus transported lots of items to Rosita for folks, including cases of eggs, a refrigerator and a motorcycle!

We arrived, had a meal, then went right to work constructing the sports court.

We have met the pastor of the church in Rosita and many other folks from their church. We look forward to a great time of ministry here.

Today is our second full day in Nicaragua and the sun is shining. The Rosita team should have arrived early this morning at their destination almost 14 hours away (by bus). Pastor Derek and others are traveling with missionary Dan Titus to remote regions of the jungle to bring the Word, construct a sports complex to be used for outreach ministry to the community, and to be an encouragement to Dan in his ministry. We anxiously await confirmation that they are safe but trust in the Lord. Please continue to pray for this groups strength, endurance and that they would remain in good spirits despite long grueling days of travel.

Our group here in Masaya has divided into two teams, one that is working with Jim and Pastor Ryan on the medical clinic and the other (which I am a part of) is working with the women on a sewing project. We are helping the women of the church here to create banners with Scripture to decorate the church and to be used in the opening ceremony of the church¨s Crusade which begins tomorrow. In the process we are teaching the women sewing skills and they are teaching us! The women are so excited to be a part of this project. They are kind and patient with us and adore Alice who has been providing leadership on this project. We have completed 4 very large banners so far and are working on the 5th and 6th now. Alice¨s brother Tom and I went to the market this morning and bought materials to construct supports for the banners and materials for the sewing project. (Let me tell you that was interesting to say the least! They don¨t teach you how to negiotate prices for plumbing materials in high school Spanish class!)
The women of the church plan to use the supports that Tom is now building to march in with the banners during the opening ceremony tomorrow night. The banners will hopefully last for years and the women hope to make more. After finishing the banners we will begin to make baby bibs that can be distributed throughout the church and possibly sold for income.

The team working on the medical clinic continues to make progress, cleaning the debrie out of the structure and mending the roof. Praise God that the materials needed for the project were easily purchased and were in place for the team to start.

God truly has truly been faithful to us. Through the church family here all of our needs have been met, our travels have been safe, and the Lord has given to each of us a clear purpose for our work here.

Please pray for our strength, that our bodies would be renewed each night and strengthened for our work the next day. (Solid, restful sleep has been hard to come by.) Pray that Derek{s team would have safe passage as they continue to venture further into the jungle. Also pray for Jacqueline and Lyn that they would continue to feel well (they both were feeling ill the first day). Finally pray that God would move powerfully, multiplying our small efforts to do big things, our time here is short and so much is needed.

Safe Arrival, Ministries Beginning

Our team arrived safely in Nicaragua about 2:00 AM CST. Everyone is getting to know each other, and getting excited about the week of ministry.

Pastor Isael from PIB Emanuel in Masaya shared his testimony with us this morning. It was powerful.

We took a look at the job site where the office building is being converted into a medical clinic by our team. The construction team begins work on that this afternoon.

Our sewing team has shifted gears. The door wasn't opened for ministry at the prison, but instead the team will be working with members of PIB Emanuel to make banners for the sanctuary, to praise The-Lord-Our-Banner.

The Rosita team leaves this afternoon for our 12-14 hour bus ride to the remote village of Rosita. Ministries will begin there as soon as we arrive.

It has been good to reconnect with friends we have made on previous trips here. May God be glorified by all we do, and may many trust in Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior!

"Livi's surgery is scheduled for January 4th. I would love for you to join us in prayer concerning the surgery and the doctors. The Urologist called me and explained that he consulted with another specialist and they will both sit in on the surgery. They will take out the bad kidney laparoscopically and then take a piece of muscle from her bladder to use as a valve around her ureter tube (to stop the reflux). The surgery is scheduled for three hours with a one night stay over. We are nervous and anxious but ready to put it all behind us!"

Pastor Ryan's friend's father & his friend's wife, Shanna, were in a traffic accident. Pastor Ryan's friend's father was killed in the accident, and Shanna is in critical condition in the hospital with multiple injuries.

Please pray for their family as they deal with the loss of the father, and pray for a miraculous healing for Shanna. Pray that all will look to the Lord during this time, and trust in Him.

Bill Huggins called this morning requesting prayer for his wife Holly's sister and her family - Kelly & Teddy Allen. (Teddy is Holly's sister.) Kelly's mother died this morning. Kelly had gone to his mother's home in Saranac Lake after she hadn't shown up for work, and some neighbors had knocked on her door but couldn't get an answer. Kelly found his mother had passed away unexpectedly.

Pray that God will comfort Kelly & Teddy and all of their family during this time of grieving and loss. And pray that Bill and Holly will be able to minister to Kelly & Teddy, as well as all of those who are affected by Kelly's mom's death.

Pray that all people will see that Jesus brings hope, love, grace, comfort, joy, peace and salvation to all who put their trust in Him.

She just called me and they can't find her, she's an indoor cat and only ventures outside, right outside the door, when she is with her and then she comes back in. They just realized they haven't seen her since last night and are now really starting to freak out.

She is chipped but that doesn't help unless someone has her scanned...

She loves her pets like she does her children and is really starting to lose it. If people could pray for 'Mini-mews" safe return, I'd be very grateful.

Pray for Livi Friel (and her parents!)

Please keep young Livi Friel in your prayers, and her parents Adam & Jenn. Livi is not yet one year old. We believe that the Lord is going to use the doctors to bring healing to Livi's body! Of course we believe that the Lord can simply heal her without medicine if He chooses to do that! Livi and her parents just had a check-up with the doctor this week, and are going back for more tests and another check-up next week. The doctor is saying that more surgery may be needed on the tube between her bladder and her good kidney. So... keep Adam, Jenn, and Livi in your prayers (as well as Livi's grandparents and all of the rest of the family), and ask the Lord to draw them all close to Him, so that they can know that Livi is in the hands of the Great Physician, the Lord our Healer. He is mighty to save, and mighty to heal.

Prayer request from Lynn Malerba:

"I would like to update the church family on Mary's condition and also request prayer for her. She had both knees replaced this past Tuesday. She was scheduled for 7:30 AM but did not go in until 10 AM. Her surgery lasted a bit over 5 hrs and we were told it went well. They said she didn't lose much blood during the surgery. She was in the recovery room longer than expected so I remained here instead of returning home. She was in an incredible amount of pain through Wednesday night. Her pain level decreased considerably yesterday. Her sister Beth, a nurse in this hospital, took this week off to help care for her. I remain here also learning all I can about being a caregiver.

Things are not going as well as we were hoping. Mary's blood count is very low and will require a blood transfusion today. The cause for such is not known at this time but internal bleeding was mentioned to me this morning. I'm not sure what God's plan is but Beth is quite concerned at this point. And so am I. Mary's spirits were good yesterday and her pain had subsided but she is getting discouraged.

There is another challenge at this time also. Because Mary had both knees replaced and because of her physical condition, she is a candidate for acute care rehabilitation in the Glens Falls Hospital, which is where she is hoping to be. We are told she qualifies and would be there for up to 2 weeks. This is the best place for Mary at this time. Her sister is nearby also. There is a bed for her in this program but because of the expense there is a question about whether or not her health coverage will approve this. Please pray that God allows this for Mary. It angers me that money comes before the welfare of people!

My heart hurts for Mary. She is so pained and I feel so helpless. I don't know what else I can do other than remain here to encourage and support her emotionally and learn all I can about how to care for her when she comes home. Please pray for God's mercy in all matters, that He would heal Mary completely, lift her spirit, ease her doubts and comfort her. Please pray for God's strength and endurance to face the challenging days ahead.

Mary is presently in Glens Falls Hospital and I do not know when she is to be released. Her room is currently - 4 West Rm 15 window bed. This could change but I will keep you updated. Please be praying for Paul & Pat Pillis, Dylan & Shannon (Pillis) Sauers, and all of their family. Shane Benham, Paul & Pat's son and Shannon's brother, died on Wednesday, October 27. Shane was 29-years-old, and has battled Huntington's Disease for all of his life. Now Shane is at home in heaven with Jesus, dancing on streets of gold! He had incredible faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Pray that God will use the memory of Shane's life to draw other people to faith in Jesus Christ.

Calling hours at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake will be on Friday, October 29 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. The funeral for Shane will be on Saturday, October 30 at Lake Placid Baptist Church at 11:00 AM.

Cliff Ashley passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010. He had been a part of the LPBC church family for many years. He was a WWII veteran, among many other accomplishments, and was well-known in our community. Many of the young people knew him because he served as a substitute teacher at LPHS for many years after he retired. He lived at the Greenwood Apartments the last few years of his life. He will be dearly missed. His funeral will be on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Lake Placid Baptist Church. Pastor Derek Spain will be officiating. Please keep Cliff's family in your prayers, as they grieve his loss. Cliff often spoke of his faith in God and his trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, so we rejoice that he is with the Lord! "I know you and your church family are definitely prayer warriors, and I have a request for you. I moved to Schroon Lake earlier this year, and am blessed to have Christian landlords. I've gotten to know their daughter and son-in-law, and attended some Bible studies at their house. They both work at Word Of Life Ranch, and the son-in-law, Graham Stump was involved in an accident at one of the rodeos about a week and a half ago. He has a brain injury, and until the last couple days the doctors haven't really been able to assess the extent of the damage. He's been in a coma since the accident, and even though he has been moving around some, he is not "awake". His wife, Randi, has been posting updates on a Facebook page, and today she posted that after looking at an MRI, the doctors believe the brain damage is extensive and are doubtful that Graham will wake up. Randi is pleading for prayer. She has shown great strength and is trusting the Lord, but she feels crushed by this latest news. I know she would appreciate as many people praying as possible--even those she doesn't know.

Also, Graham and Randi have two little boys, Wyatt and Keith.

"I am just writing to share our news on Livi's heart visit. I just talked with the cardiologist today and the results from her Holter test show that the heart murmur has DISAPPEARED!!! Initially, the doctor had said that the best case scenario was that the murmur had disappeared but his feeling was that the murmur was probably still there without any increase in severity.....Well God has answered our prayers as only He can and we got the best case scenario!!! Praise God. We leave on Tuesday back to Burlington for more tests on Livi's kidneys. We will find out then if surgery will be needed. Can you please have the Church family pray again for Livi's kidney to be healed and no surgery needed, for Adam and I to have strength and courage for Livi, for Livi's comfort during the round of tests, and for God to give the doctors knowledge and wisdom(as it definitely helped this last round)?? Thank you so much and we miss you all!!"

Thank you for all the prayers during our week of ministry during Ironman Lake Placid 2010. There is much to celebrate because much was done of eternal value.

We are glad to report:

* 1250 people attended the pancake breakfast

* 306 people worshiped the Lord together at IronPrayer on the night before the race

* 16 people made professions of faith in Jesus as Savior & Lord

* Many seeds of the gospel were planted through hundreds of conversations and in other ways

"Tom's Grandma Lorraine (called "MiMi") is in an assisted living facility in Lancaster Pa. After going downhill quickly in the past several weeks, the family decided to get an MRI this week to see if she had had another stroke. When they did the MRI, they found several brain tumors, and they believe they're malignant. Even though she is elderly, this was still difficult news for everyone. I would like to ask for prayer for MiMi (Lorraine) and Pop Pop (Bill)--her husband of 65 years (I think?) and for the family, my mother-in-law Jean and all of her brothers and sisters (and spouses) as they are grieving and also making decisions, etc. for peace and comfort...and that God calls her in His perfect timing! Mimi is a strong believer, so when she is taken, she will be with the Lord and we will see her again!

We praise the Lord because we had tried to get down to Lancaster a few times to see them, and it hadn't worked out. Last week, we were able to go out and see them (before any of this news had come about...) and had a WONDERFUL visit with both of them (Mimi and Pop Pop). Sophie was able to see them, too! We thank the Lord that we had this opportunity! God is so good!

Bill Godin went into the hospital on Thursday, July 8. He has been having internal bleeding. After a day or so in the hospital he is doing much better. "I have a very dear friend in CT, Jaqui Martin, who I went to high school with in Taiwan and was roommates with in college in VA. Anyway, she has already struggled with breast cancer, ovarian cancer and now has another tough diagnosis. She has asked for the prayer of our church, as follows:

'Pat, I'm asking you for your prayers. I have breast metastasis to my spine and liver. Not good, but for me, it is just another obstacle and I am getting good at hoisting myself over obstacles. I would also ask for continued prayer for my friends Scott & Sherri Springer and their daughter, McKinley who is battling leukemia. They finally took her home from the hospital yesterday, but still have about 2.5 years of treatments with both out- and in-patient things. It's a huge financial drain, not to mention what it does to the heartstrings of a mom and dad.

Jacqui walked the Cure HD walk with me last year in MA and I've attached a photo of the two of us, as well of one with Scott with McKinley when we visited in May. Sometimes it helps to picture who you're praying for! :)

"I am writing to ask for a prayer request for Olivia....We are traveling back to Fletcher Allen Hospital on Monday for a check-up on her heart. Along with her kidney issues, the doctors also found at birth that Olivia had an extra beat in her heart. They monitored her while she was in the NICU to make sure it wasn't a serious problem. We are going back on Monday so they can again test her heart. We are praying that her heart is strong and that if the extra beat is still there that it hasn't developed into anything serious. God has made her unique and very special and I believe He has just given her an extra "skip in her step." Dan Fenton called today requesting prayer for a 19-yr-old young lady from our community named Michaela Bushey. She was injured over the weekend, and had surgery today on her spine at Fletcher-Allen Medical Center. Michaela is a very good friend of Dan's daughter. Pray for Michaela to be completely healed. Last reports said that she does have sensation and movement in her toes, which is a good thing. She was in a very long surgery today.

"I have a prayer request about my dear friend, Scott Springer, and his family. Some of the people who get this request may remember Scott -- Ten years ago he rode a bike from Santa Monica, CA, to Cape Canaveral Beach, FL, to raise money and awareness for Huntington's disease (HD). When asked by reporters what inspired him to ride, he said, "I just love this family" speaking of us. I joined him in AL and we ended up in Orlando where he met the young lady who was to be his future wife -- Sherri. They were married the next year (2001) and Paul was a groomsman. Scott is like a son to us. Scott and Sherri have had two daughters, McKinley and Macayla, since they got married. Shannon and I visted with them on our way home from TX and McKinley (20 months old now) had a slight fever, which we all thought was teething related. The fever persisted, however, and they took her to the doctor the Tues after we left to discover that she has Acute Leukemia. She is in the hospital for a month of intensive treatments. God has blessed Scott and Sherri to be able to both stay with her this entire month. Yesterday was Scott's birthday and when I called him, he sounds very, very hopeful of the outcome, but they continue to go through the horrors of having such a small, precious child being so sick. The doctors are hopeful that she will be ok, but they face 2 1/2 years of treatments after the one-month hospital stay. It's a very difficult and expensive thing for a family to face.
